"Delphine Lebourgeois is a French artist based in London She works in various medium including digital, collage, pencil, pen, ink, watercolour and screenprint but her working process always starts with an initial collage of found elements. Her most recent work draws from various stylistic sources (ranging from Botticelli to comics) mixing symbols and cultural references in a playful and sometimes irreverent way. In 2014, Lebourgeois created a whole series of original drawings on the power of crowds "The Girl has a Gun" that was launched at the Other Art Fair in October 2014. The works explored the realm of power relations and female emancipation. Lebourgeois' latest series are her most feminist to date, as her armies of women have progressively taken on a deeper meaning. Her 2019 Pink Collection explores both erotica, the power to assert one's sexuality, and Mania, a look back on female repression. Lebourgeois has also collaborated with The New Yorker, The Guardian, Le Monde, L'Obs, Amnesty International, Soho House and The Other Art Fair, where she continues to exhibit her work yearly. My current series of paintings continues to explore qualities of light, reflection and color, how they inform and alter what we see, how they create atmosphere. My imagery is informed by the linear and fluid elements of wetland environments. I often work with a limited palette, layering and blending just a few colors to achieve a meditative stillness, a sense of place and quietude. In other work I find myself incorporating combinations of highly-keyed colors and elaborate patterning which take on a more dynamic quality. I tend to alternate between these two approaches, I enjoy how they play off of one another and inform each other. I normally work in series, digging in to various themes as points of departure. For this auction, I have created two cards: Green Suite Series no. IX, incorporating one of my favorite motifs - the long view, strong horizon and reflected elements, and Burst Series Conversations with E, recalling a delightful afternoon spent by the river, observing the flow and the play of light in the water while in conversation with a dear friend.

Printmaking artist specialising in wood engravings, linocuts and collages. Author of 7 published books on printmaking and drawing. Editor of "Printmaking Today" magazine (1998-2013). Curator of "Scene through Wood - A Century of Modern Wood Engraving" for Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2020 & touring to other UK museums until 2023. Only the 3rd artist ever elected as a wood engraver to the Royal Academy of Arts in the RA's 253-year history. Oxford University BA Fine Art Degree (1986) & MA (1991); Central School of Art Postgraduate Diploma in Printmaking (1988); British School at Rome Scholarship in Printmaking (1989-90) Have won over 40 national and international awards and prizes, 1987-2019 inclusive and have works in numerous national and international museum collections. Have had over 40 solo exhibitions, mostly in London but including major retrospectives in Moscow Ex Libris Museum, Russia (1995); Ashmolean Museum Oxford (1998 & touring UK until 1999); Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester (2008 & touring UK until 2010); Holburne Museum, Bath (2017); Gainsborough's House Museum, Suffolk (2018); + "Olympic Metamorphoses" solo exhibition toured UK museums inc. My other 3 postcard submissions are all lithograph and pencil studies of the building site at London's Royal Academy as it undertook its massive expansion project a few years ago. The interior and exterior of buildings with the play of light, pattern and form are prevailing themes in my work.

Chitra Parvathy Merchant grew up in India and currently works as an artist in Bristol, U.K. After completing a B.A Degree in Psychology, she left India to work for a year in an artist's studio in West Africa. Bea Denton Out of Darkness i, 2021 Digital Print on Hahnemühle Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) Bea Denton's practice explores ideas around death and loss, faith and ritual. Photography, printmaking, found materials and lost images are intrinsic to her creative process. Pushing the boundaries of the technical and physical limitations of photography, her work transcends its realist conventions to achieve a deeper resonance. Denton is a collector and archivist of anonymous lives, departed and reincarnated, in pursuit of an essence in the image: the 'soul'. In her examination of faith and death, Denton attempts to find meaning and dimension through the imprint of time, light and phenomena. In a circuitous process, found images are penetrated, interrogated and excavated through alternate layers of photography, projection, recaptured from the lens of a Camera Obscura, from there back to photography and finally to print. The resulting enigmatic, dislocated images challenge a traditional idea of photography as a faithful record of reality, and instead explore the nature of perception, belief and memory. Education Denton graduated from UAL with Distinction in MA Fine Art Printmaking. Exhibitions/Awards She has exhibited widely, including publicly-sited work. She won the 2009 Creekside Open prize selected by Jenni Lomax; the 2007 Deptford X MacDonald Egan Award for Public Art, and the 2002 Ardizzone Prize (Major) for Printmaking. "I am an artist and printmaker who works predominantly in soft pastel, whether painting, printing, collaging or paper making. Originally from London, New York has been home for the last thirteen years, with a recent break of eighteen months spent in Tokyo. My evolution has been influenced by living in and experiencing different cultures, which have offered up a visual and emotional dimension to the work. As an onlooker, I have observed in each the routines and customs that provide a structure for day to day interactions and our need for connection. I am interested in re-defining soft pastel as a modern medium for reflecting contemporary life by distilling and exalting its intrinsic immediacy and tactile distinctiveness. I move slowly in the studio, so that ideas can free-float. There is a rhythm and pace here that enables me to feel my way around a painting. With a sensibility rather than an single idea, I'll begin painting so that randomness and equilibrium work along side each other. My working process is an explorative, intuitive mix borrowed from several disciplines, combining and alternating pastel with print or collage. My information comes from careful observation, from reflecting on a familiar scene and drawing a narrative from it. The scenes are not staged but usually stumbled upon, perhaps a friend's window sill, kitchen table or a glimpse of two people engaged in conversation. It is the overlooked aspects of everyday life that draw me in, a stolen glance of another's day to day and the rhythm of routine that we all share. My experience in Japan is evident in my more recent work. Prompted by curiosity and a need to adapt to a different culture, I tentatively explore the surrounding new, in contrast with older recollections. I place a beloved cup next to a chicken wire lantern, unearthed at a Japanese flea market, and a new conversation begins. It's about absorbing change and finding a way through, using the spaces in between. The resolution comes in recognizing when a balance is found and there is a connection between the contrary: the new and old, the unfamiliar and familiar. I gather my visual language from the grace of everyday ordinariness, private worlds, unguarded moments, the unsaid - the trace of human presence. I paint what makes me curious and seek to render the truest emotional response that made me first stop and take note."
