The pale blue guilloche enamel with a white enamelled border, with applied rose cut diamond set garlands interspaced by two pairs of rose cut diamond and white enamelled tulip shaped motifs between, stamped with French poinçons and numbered 1547, to blonde tortoiseshell teeth, and an associated Cartier Paris comb case

Condition Report:
The band stamped with French boars head poinçon and rubbed lozenge shaped makers mark, no noticeable scratches or chips to the enamel, there is a small indented line to the white enamel to the top of the panel, but this appears to be from manufacture rather than a scratch, all diamonds are present and correct.
The box is not original to the comb in our opinion, it has had some damage and one of the hinged top sections reglued and the red leather over the breakage has split and been reglued. The case appears to have been later relined, and the case isn't a perfect fit for the comb- it is a different shape

June 1811; Helen Agnes West, Born dec 10. 1812; Charles Edward West Born 27 July 1815; Anna Maria West Born 20th July 1822

These pendant lockets have the names of the West family, the 11 children of James WEST Esq. (1750-1829) and his wife Emma Shuttleworth (1778 -1834), although there are no lockets for two of their children, Mary Emma and Desagulius, on the chain. Some of the children have the middle name Shuttleworth after their mother Emma, whose family originate from Gawthorpe Hall, Lancashire.
Condition Report:
The Shuttleworth family seat at Gawthorpe Hall was visited in 1850 by the novelist Charlotte Brontë, steying with Sir James and Lady Kay-Shuttleworth. She described Gawthorpe Hall as '...grey, stately and picturesque, a model of old English architecture.' It is now in the care of the National Trust

One of the hair balloons has been replaced with a woven metal, glued along the back, the other balloons appear to be in good condition considering age, a few loose hairs. Elizabeth da COSTA VILLA-REAL (died 1792) was the daughter of Joseph da COSTA VILLA-REAL, and married William MONCKTON-ARUNDELL in 1747. William Monckton Arundel became 2nd Viscount GALWAY (died 1772) in 1751. William was the son of John MONCKTON-ARUNDELL (1695-1751) who was in 1727 created 1st Viscount GALWAY.
Elizabeth and William Monkton-Arundel had three sons and two daughters, and their two sons succeeded as 3rd and 4th Viscount. Galway

The miniature is oval, and so doesnt fit the setting correctly. The bale is possibly later. The enamel is in good condition, the pearls appear to be original, no noticeable glue. Some light nibbles and scratches to the glazed panels, the back section lifts enabling access to the miniature.

The topaz has a chip to the centre of one of the arms, due to the faceting it is not very obvious without a loupe, the bottom topaz also has a shallow slightly chipped fracture, some light abrasion to crown facet edges, a couple of nicks and some nibbling to the pavilions of the stones, there is a bead missing from the base of the cross, the chain is later, stamped 9ct, the clasp tongue is broken and so not in useable order, there is some wear to the chain, but there is life left to the chain

The bracelet has some light wear, the poincons are quite clear, there are a couple of small knocks, a safety chain has been lead soldered on, the makers mark appears to be centred with a cross but the initial s either side are not clear. The poincons are an eagles head and a rhino head. There are some large scratches to the table of the garnet. The diamonds are all present and correct, bright and lively.

The diamond is bright and lively, colour estimate K-L, clarity VS2, there are some naturals to the girdle on the inside of the stone, assessed in setting. There is abrasion to the crown facets on the sapphire. The setting has wear, the claws have been retipped, one of the claws has pulled away from the base of the sapphire, the shank has been sized, there is thinning to the shank and rubbing to the setting commensurate with use.

Condition Report:
The pendant appears to be unmarked, but it is silver and gilt verso, gold coloured loops and the settings of the sapphires are topped in gold colour, there is yellowed glue behind the bottom pearl. A couple of the sapphires have been reset and one of the top sapphires in a flower head has glue around it. One of the rose diamonds is missing from the bottom foliate swag, we are unable to give a diamond weight due to the cut of the stones.

The sapphire is bright, it has some abrasion and scratches to the crown facets, there is some colour banding and a small feather to one side of the stone, the diamonds are bright and lively, principal diamonds approximately I-J colour, clarity of one SI3, there is a chip/natural that is surface reaching to the table edge/ crown facet, the other VVS/VS, assessed in settings. There is some wear to the setting from use, the markings to the shank are rubbed.

Each fob with an oval cornelian panel, one carved with the profile of Zeus; another with the profile of Apollo with lyre behind; the third with a classically robed maiden standing beside a fouled anchor, with the motto Never Despair ; and a further fob carved with a crest with lion supports above the motto Est Encore Tempe ; suspended from a fancy double link bracelet with an unidentified mark to the clasp

The armorial is that used by the von ROSEN family and the family was identified in French indexes as being of L'evonie. However more extensive European indexes provided by Reistap also identifies the arms to be of the same family of Stockholm, Sweden. Further research shows that family from Silesse Pom Dam, Bonn, Germany and that family established themselves as seal makers in Stockholm in the 18 th century. Which is particularly interesting, in the case of this seal. This identifies His. Exe. Greve Fredrik Ulruk von ROSEN (1731-1793) who was created Comte de Bollwiller as a possible owner of the armorial.
Condition Report:
The fobs all have some wear commensurate with age and use, they have wear to the tops where they have been previously worn, two have been patched. One of the fobs has a lot of wear, it is the one with the maiden and fouled anchor, it has been lead soldered and worn around the base, and it has had the loop replaced. The bracelet has wear, the clasp is in working order, a possible small loss over the top of the clasp
The bracelet has a faint 18k stamp and an unidentified gold mark.

Henry had been Tiffany & Co's general representative in Europe during the 1870s and 1880s, responsible for introducing Tiffany & Co to Royalty and European nobility, and obtaining appointments for Tiffany to numerous royal households. In the late 1880s Henry decided to move back to Chicago, and where he wanted Tiffany & co to open a boutique. When Tiffany rejected the idea, Henry opened his own jewellery boutique in Chicago, with a showroom beneath the American Consulate in Paris. Spaulding & Co soon became acknowledged as Chicago's rival to New York's Tiffany & Co, and was renowned for the style and quality of its jewellery

The diamonds are all present and correct, bright and lively, colour mostly G-I, clarity varying VS-I. The setting has some solder repairs, most are only visible to the reverse, but the two solder repairs right by the clasp have soldered together the two links that would have once been articulated. one of the links has been lightly abraded to one end near a repair between the links, not very obvious, The setting is in our opinion platinum, but it is unmarked. The clasp is in good working order.
Flexible and doesnt turn over when worn. The principal diamond is approximately 4.3mm x 2.95mm

The Somerset Light Infantry was formed in 1685, and has taken part in many overseas campaigns and battles. The regiment has had a number of name changes including becoming the 13th Regiment of foot in 1751, hence the XIII on the current lot. In 1781 the Regiment became the 13th (Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot, and in 1842 the regiment became 13th (1st Somersetshire) (Prince Albert's Light Infantry) Regiment of Foot, when Prince Albert became the regiments patron. In 1920 the regiment title was changed to The Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's).
