Presented in a Baccarat decanter with stopper within an original presentation wicker case. The original cellophane wrapping was removed to obtain a clear photograph of the bottle and label. The wicker case contains two sheets of paper with information about the history of the decanter's design.
The neck label attached with ribbon states: "This Cognac Grande Champagne was served at the Royal Banquet given to their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at the Chateau de Versailles in July 1938 and was again chosen to be served to Queen Elizabeth II during her Majesty's visit to France in April 1957." I drank this wine a few Christmas's ago. I enjoyed it so much that it was awarded a rare spot on a shelf in my office of wines that I have loved.
A chateau I hardly knew and at 50 years old ...my expectations were low, - drank on my own in front of the fire after everyone had gone home, it was a revelation. Beautifully mature and still very much alive. Soft, rich and elegant with a splash of Pomerol decadence.

Dianne and I recently drank a bottle of 1982 Lynch Bages and was sensational. Completely resolved but velvety and still youthful. A complex classic Pauillac in every sense that will continue to mature . A note to the buyer, - our only regret was not giving it longer in decanter before drinking, the last glass was without doubt the best and left us wondering what could have been after another hour open.
