The panel has begun to bow and there is a light horizontal crack running from the right edge to the smaller dog (approx. 7cm). Craquelure and an uneven surface varnish throughout. There is a diagonal crack which looks to have been partially repaired, running from the lower left corner to the terrier's front paw (approx. 10cm). Rubbing and abrasions to the framing edges. Inspection under UV light reveals a heavy masking varnish which may be concealing retouching / overpaint which is otherwise not apparent.

Condition Report:
The canvas has been lined. There is a layer of varnish which has caused some discolouration. Craquelure throughout. There are rubbings and abrasions to the framing edges, as well as some surface scratching and scuffing. There is also an area of associated loss (approx. 1cm) to the upper left edge. A further area of losses to the lower right corner. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouching and in-filling throughout, together with a green cloudy varnish.

Condition Report:
The sheet has been laid down at the corners. There is a tear (approx. 2.5cm) to the left side of the lower edge. Adjacent to this there appears to be a repaired tear (approx. 2.5cm) running diagonally to the front fishing boat. There is a smaller concentrated area of tearing (each tear approx. 5mm) further along this edge at the lower right corner. Some very small and light scattered spots of foxing throughout but these are not particularly noticeable. Some very light fading. Undulation to the sheet under the glaze. Unexamined out of glazed frame.

The canvas presents dotted stains of dirt across the surface, and various superficial scratches, most evident in the lower right corner. Under UV light a few traces of paint fluoresce, which might, thought, be original paint. To conclude, other paint stains are scattered across.
